Hot Take #02. Take meter: 9/10 — Radioactive. Handle with gloves. Better yet, use a protective bodysuit. Be careful when sharing. I could be very wrong. I’m not but I could be.

The Grand Old Party, the GOP — what a real pity. The party’s been over for a few years now. Let me explain.
In America, political parties can come to an end. It’s a thing. They don’t just end abruptly. Instead, it’s more of a gradual transition that’s easier to identify in retrospect. It’d be surprising to me if future history textbooks DIDN’T show the Republican Party ending in 2016 effectively.
One nearly comical bit here: Trump’s new Patriot Party is being formalized now in 2021, came into being in 2016, and will be over in 2021. They’ll be remembered as the most violent political party in American history.
The squandering of power by Republicans during the COVID-19 epidemic is more than a Grand Old Pity in policy-making. They have haymakered themselves out of existence and into a new, more extreme, alt-right conservative political party vessel.
What do we call this new conservative party? That’s for another day, for Hot Take #03. For now, an overview of some of the GOP’s critical failure points.
Five of the MANY examples of modern conservatives’ failure:
1COVID: This is one of the deadliest events in US history. The GOP anti-mask policy and overall COVID policy has been costly.
2 Debt and Deficit: The GOP has skyrocketed the debt and deficit in the Trump era — despite installing their massive tax reform in 2017.
3Job Creation: Trump and Senate Republicans failed in the job creation sector. These numbers were as of November 1st, 2020.
4Violence against the AAPI Community: A crisis of violence against the AAPI community — many of the victims being senior citizens — has surged with Trump and the GOP continually using anti-AAPI language when discussing COVID since last year.
5Public Health Policy Contributes to the Death of .2% of Congress. Okay, .2% — big deal. Well, now about 700,000 people in the heart of eastern Texas don’t have the congressional Rep they voted for.
Masks save lives and Rep Ron Wright could have been — should have been — one of them.
President Biden just secured 200 million more vaccine doses — in 2019 we had roughly 329 million citizens accounted for. This is real leadership and promises kept by President Biden and VP Harris.
While the Republican Party is mutating, America needs to keep evolving to survive.
